• Intramuros
This ancient walled city will take you back in time while exploring its cobbled street and Spanish colonial design. The City was formed by Spanish conquistadors in 1571, today it is a UNSECO world heritage site. It is the oldest part of the city and also known as Ciudad Murada. The Intramuros has many museums and churches inside it, which are also ideal places to learn more about Philippines History.
• Fort Santiago
Fort Santiago is located within the walled city of Intramuros. Fort Santiago demonstrates the authentic Manila with its cobbled streets and military defense structure. It’s an ideal spot for family day out, while you learn about the history of Philippines.
• Rizal Park
This is my favorite place in entire Manila. It is one of the most important historic landmarks of Manila offering picturesque Chinese and Japanese garden. It is a very good place for family day out and taking the tour of the monument in a horse driven cart. The Rizal garden is located in the middle of Manila and made to give tribute to Philippines national hero Jose Rizal.
• Manila’s American Cemetery and Memorial
While touring Manila, everyone should stop by here for a while. It is the only place where over 17000 soldiers finally found their resting ground. The cemetery is the largest in Asia Pacific with lush green grass and white crosses all over. The cemetery occupies over 150 acres of land, with a chapel in the center of the cemetery. There are Trani limestone piers in the 2 hemicycles just beyond the chapel, mentioning over 36,000 soldiers name lost during the war.
• Shopping Therapy
Well it’s not about any attraction however it’s about Manila’s favorite activity i.e. shopping. So if shopping therapy works for you as well then you will love this place. Manila has some of the world’s biggest Malls, crowded almost every day of the week with locals and tourists. So shop till you drop in this shopper’s paradise. Some of the good shopping malls in Manila are SM Mall of Asia, Glorietta Shopping Mall, Greenbelt Shopping Mall, Power Plant Shopping Mall and Shangri-la Plaza.
