Montreal’s Underground City

The most important aspect of Montreal’s life is their Underground City, which is also called as La Ville Souterraine. Montreal’s Underground City (which is the biggest in the world) is spread around 12 square kilometers of area and has almost 30 kilometers of tunnels spread all over. Nearly quarter million of people (be it tourist or locals) visit this extravagant world of Underground which has shopping malls, hotels, banks, offices, museums, universities, metro stations, commuter train stations, and the Bell Centre amphitheatre and arena.

Taking a tour of this Underground City is mandatory, if you want to get acquainted with every aspect of Montreal’s life. Once you take a tour of the Underground city, trust me you will be surprised to see how brightly lit passages connects thousands of boutiques, hotels, restaurants, universities, offices and many attractions.

The Underground city is world famous for its shopping experience, so if you are visiting Montreal do swing by to shop or at least window shop. Some of the most famous shopping malls in this city are The Eaton Centre, Cours Mont-Royal, Complexe Les Ailes, Place Montreal Trust, and Place Ville-Marie. I think out of all the mentioned malls the most famous mall is The Eaton Centre, as it is located in the heart of Underground City and downtown core connected via McGill Metro Station.

So if you are a shopping fanatic I am sure you will be delighted to see brands like The Gap, Old Navy, Jacob, Tommy, Guess, Zara, Mexx, Le Chateau, Aldo and many more here. Kingston’s Devon House

No trip to Kingston, Jamaica can be considered complete without paying a visit to Devon House. Probably one of the most visited attraction in Kingston after Bob Marley’s Museum. Devon House is located on 26 Hope Road, corner of Hope Road and Water Loo Road.

As far as the history of the Devon House goes, it was built in 1881 and initially it belonged to George Stiebel. Since then the property had many owners, finally taken over by the government in 1965 and opened for public in 1968.

This 2 story building showcases the exclusive and expansive Jamaican culture in the form of the exhibits. The mansion holds some of the remade furniture and the architecture of the Jamaica. The 11 acres of property offers lush lawns and great place to shop and dine.

The courtyard of the mansion has number of restaurants offering authentic Jamaican cuisine. I tasted the best jerk chicken in the whole town here in the restaurant called Rum Roast and Royal. It’s an ideal place to pick up some local handy craft items, as many locals have their stalls here selling goods. Along with that every year local artists display their goods in the craft fair organized during Easter, Independence and Christmas day.

The tickets to enter the site are very reasonable, which is JMD 300 for adults and JMD 100 for children under 12. The price of the ticket includes a guide which will familiarize you with every aspect and history of the mansion.

Go Underwater by Taking a Submarine tour

If I talk about water related activities; everyone has different kind of likings. Some like Kayaking, while others like surfing or scuba diving. However I wanted to do something totally different when I was in Honolulu and guess what? I managed to take a deep sea ride in a submarine.

Submarine tours are the most opted things to do in Waikiki, so people like me who dint know anything about such tours should make their reservations in advance for such an experience. The tour happens in Atlantis submarine which carry almost 64 passengers and it will take you in the deepest abyss possible in the ocean.

As you take the dive in the submarine (which I must say is very comfortable and spacious, as I am a claustrophobic) you get to see never seen before aquatic life. So as you dive deep into the sea and peep out of the circular windows do expect to see sting rays, sharks, green turtles, yellow tangs, eels, and other marine flora and fauna.

I was completely bewildered to see variety of life underwater, which is really hard to see even when you are scuba diving. I would suggest taking your whole family on such a ride of life because it’s not only fun but educational for kids also.
Well the whole experience comes with a price tag; the average cost of such a tour is approximately $110 for adults and around $50 for kids. The tour generally last for 1 and a half hour but trust me these 1 and a half hours will be remembered by you, your entire life.

Gear up for the longest Escalator ride in Hong Kong

Perhaps Hong Kong’s Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is the most eccentric way of commuting inside the town. Built in 1994, the escalator carries almost 60,000 people form point A to B every day. When I first heard about the escalator, I was pretty much amazed but my amusement went out of proportion when locals told me that they use the escalator to reach work.

Trust me, that locals form the Mid Level area hop on to this gigantic escalator to reach central town for work and vice versa. The complete and complex network of escalators covers almost 800 meter of distance and elevates you to the height of 135 meters. The escalator has very complex timing also, from 6.00 AM to 10 AM it runs down hill and from 10.15 AM to 12.00 AM runs uphill.

The ride on the world’s largest escalator last for almost 30 minutes one way. As I climbed uphill on the escalator going through the Soho District, I enjoyed some of the spectacular view of Hong Kong and it’s Down-Town. In the evening the escalator is crowded by couples, locals and tourists to enjoy the great views of the Wet Market and Dai Pai Dong. The escalator has many junctions in between where you can take a pit stop and capture magnificent Hong Kong’s skyline in your camera.

Commuting through Escalator is the best way of exploring Hong Kong according to me for following reasons.
• There are no charges for this invention of modern Hong Kong i.e. it’s completely FREE.
• It gives spectacular view of Hong Kong, so people like me who love to take pictures it will offer them a perfect panorama.
• Ideal place to get involved with locals however avoid busy hours as locals really hate to share their space when they are going for work.

Free or Almost Free Fun Things to Do in Halifax

Halifax, Nova Scotia
I love Halifax and trust me I really do! This is one city which has everything I look up for in a vacation destination. It has everything from metropolitan feel to being safe in downtown and from beaches to picture perfect gardens. The best part of the city is that it has many things to do which are absolutely free or almost free. I remember on saving couple of dollars on my last visit as most of my vacation went checking out free things.

• Public Gardens

The garden open’s seasonally, is one of the best and spectacular gardens I have been to, after Central Park in New York City. The Garden offers perfect escape from the maddening and crazy hustle of the Spring Garden Road, so do start your day out from here. The garden is a perfect place of have long strolls with your partners, while you smell the fragrance of thousands of flowers over soft cushiony green grass. The park has many rare and exotic species of plants, trees, and flowers from all over the world and the best part the park is completely FREE…

• Downtown

My dad always told me that walking is the best exercise and I agree to it! So why not double it up the fun with downtown as in checking out the whole downtown walking. So after the Public Garden, head towards downtown. Halifax’s downtown is located on a slope which eventually ends up at the beach. So do take the pleasure of exploring the new city’s downtown on feet by just ducking in and out of the shops and streets. Here be ready to run into tons of eating places, specialty stores, fashion boutiques and art galleries.

• Party and Post party Breakfast

Halifax boasts of its young and happening crowd, all because of huge student population. So weekends are party days and what else can be more happening then the Split Crows with their beers and live music? It is one of the best joints to mingle with the locals and the drinks here are very cheap.

After a night of wild partying you may want to head towards Maxwell Plums for some greasy yet healthy breakfast of bacons, eggs, toasts and fries, all for CA$2. Isn’t it a steal?

The visuals of the process of brewing the beer ignited a fire in me to taste almost all the beers possible. Just in case if you are also get stuck by the same drinking bug, then do explore some of the best bars and hangouts in Halifax mentioned below.

• Midtown Tavern & Grill

It’s been one of the most iconic bar in Halifax since its commencement. Most commonly it’s known for it’s out of the world steaks and beers. So if you love steak and want it to go smooth with a beer then do swing by this place.

Address: 1684 Grafton Street‎

• The Dome Entertainment Line

The dome entertainment is actually the assortment of 5 bars under one roof. Off lately because of huge popularity and drinking option it was called as the “liquor dome”. So after the agreement and the management decision the place is called now as The Dome Entertainment Line. This is the place where most of the action takes places, flooded with people any day of the week. It’s completely an experience to live.

Address: Argyle Street, Halifax

• The Marquee Club

If you are a live music lover then you will love this place. Established in 1998, the club is a favorite joint for live music and drinks, probably the best in the country also. So do check it out on Saturday nights when they have live local band playing.

Authentic Chinese Junk Experience in Hong Kong

Duk Ling Junk Boat
Hong Kong offers too many things to do while on a vacation, but above all taking a ride in authentic Chinese Junk is one of the best and the most memorable things to do. It is probably one of the most enjoyable and impressive way to discover Hong Kong.

There are many private tour operators which offer such kind of tours, however I would suggest taking the tour operated by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The Hong Kong Tourism Board or HKTB (For further reference) offers a tour in a junk called Duk Ling (which means Clever Duck in English); it is one of the authentic and still operational junk left.

So as I took the ride which generally last an hour, I was left completely mesmerized by the spectacular view of Hong Kong. When I was taking the tour I almost felt like that I have teleported to ancient China and I am a Chinese fisherman trading opium. The Junk was really old and very well kept. The best part of the junk I found was the deck where you can stand endlessly and stare at the panoramic skyline of Hong Kong.

The average cost of the tour is HK$100, which I completely agree is way too much but I guess it cost a lot to keep these junks operational, so no fight about it at all! The tour which I took departed from the Victoria Harbor, which is yet another best location of Hong Kong. So howsoever going fo0r a vacation to this fabulous town of east should try the Junk ride. It completely worth it!

African Lion Safari in Hamilton

If you are up for something scary and thrilling, then African Lion Safari is the place for you. Trust me I have not seen Lions much in my life other then few times in Zoos and Circus when I was a kid. In my last trip to Hamilton with my family I saw these kings of the jungle in their natural habitat roaming freely.

Well Hamilton is one of the most crowded towns in Canada and undoubtedly has many things to do. But probably if you ask me I would suggest everyone to go for African Lion Safari when in Hamilton. It’s an amazing place to enjoy a sunny day out with your friends and family, while you cruise slowly in your car checking out more than 1000 animals from over 100 species.

I visited this natural park with my family and I was completely overwhelmed by the experience. My kids loved it, I mean for the first time my kids and even me saw a full grown lion roaming freely around my car. It gave us a very unreal mixed feeling of anxiety, thrill and fear. The park gives you the opportunity to either hire a bus or go around in your own car, but make sure with you windows up and please do not feed the animals a strict no-no by the natural reserve authorities.

Along with the car ride, the park also offers the many shows where they show parrots performing acts. Lovers Key State Park - Romantic Getaway in Fort Myers

Lovers Key State park in the Fort Myers is a group of islands located in south of Fort Myers Beach. The Islands offers solitary beaches and natural trails to couples, so you can spend some memorable time with your significant other. The Lovers Key State park is divided into 4 Islands called Inner Key, Long Key, Black Island and Lovers Key.

All these four islands offers isolated romantic outdoors to relax and distress for you and your partner. The park was earlier known as Carl E. Johnson Park and the park till date is so isolated that it can only be reached by boats only. The park can be easily reached for m the northern side as well as southern side via crossing Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach respectively. When I took a trip of the park with my wife I choose to go via Fort Myers Beach i.e. northern side so would suggest to go from the northern side only. There is almost a negligible fee to enter the park and I think which makes it one of the cheapest attractions in Fort Myers.

Lovers State park has always been a haven for wildlife, so don’t be surprised if you spot an alligator in their back waters. The beaches of the park is an ideal place to spend most of the day relaxing if you are not much of a trekking and hiking kind of a person like me. The beach offers every guest to indulge into water activities like sailing, snorkeling, kayaking or just simple sunbathing with a chilled beer in hand.

The park though secluded from the main land but has everything you can ask for, from outdoor showers to restrooms and shaded picnic area (if you are on a family picnic) to playgrounds. Lover State park also has many places for snacks and drinks located all over the park along with bike rental facilities. Some goes to the park to enjoy the wildlife and outdoors, while some go there to quench their thirst for wildlife photography. However I would suggest visiting the park with your loved one to enjoy some special moments with him or her.

Do you love beer? Well I do and I think after water, milk and soft drinks, beer is one of the most consumed beverages in the world. Boston is one of the places in the world where some of the best beers come from. So if you are in Boston don’t even think of skipping the Samuel Adams Brewery tour, an ideal place to learn about the history of Boston’s world famous beers. Samuel Adams was one of the major parts of the Boston’s history along and a very famous brewer putting America on the brewing map in1980’s. So it won’t be wrong to say that, in Samuel Adam history be ready to sip the history.

The Samuel Adams Boston tour topped the list, as the tour is free and you will get to taste some of the best beers for free. When you enter the brewery a guide will take you through the every process of beer making. My adventure started with a presentation about the history of Samuel Adams Beer and America. The second room had many photographs and awards won by them. After the presentation I was taken to the third room, here I was informed about the barley and hops used in beer making. The guide even passed a cup of the same for closer view. Sam Adams brewery was famous for making some of the strongest beers in the market. However the disappointment came when we dint get to taste that one. After the briefing on beer making we were transferred to the tasting room, which was the best part of the tour. Here I enjoyed myself to the fullest as I was sipping the freshest beer ever.

The tour starts every forty-five minutes. The tour generally last around 1 hour and the tour is free so you really don’t have to make reservations. The brewery is open Monday – Thursday, 10:00 – 3:00 pm, Friday 10:00am-5:30 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am-3:00 pm. The tour doesn’t have any entrée charges however donation is welcome. Boston Walk of History

When it comes to discovering America history, Boston is where you want to be. If you are a history buff in Boston, then do make a point to spend a day taking a walking tour of the famous Freedom Trail. It is the best way to get familiar with the history of the town. It is one of the most visited historic land marks in Boston. The trail has a red brick line along with the sign boards which makes it easily accessible to tourists also.

I would suggest starting your walking tour from the America’s oldest public park, Boston Common. The whole walk of the trail is of about 2.5 mile but not in a loop. There are 16 historic attractions located on the Freedom Trail. So on an average be prepared to walk for around 3 hours if you want to enjoy the trail completely. Although fit people can cover the whole stretch in less than an hour, but the fun lies in strolling and spending some time at each attraction.

There is no admission fee for the trail and the attraction located on it except Paul Revere House, the Old South Meeting House and the Old State House. I would suggest planning a day out there to pick up the map of the trail from The Freedom Trail Information Booth, located in the Boston Common. You can also contact the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau tel. 888/SEE-BOSTON or 617/536-4100 regarding any information on Freedom Trail as well as travel related queries including shopping, nightlife, historic places, general travel queries like flights to Boston, hotels and more.

Spending an Evening in Puerto Vallarta

Enchanting Evening at Puerto Vallarta
Every traveler has their own version of spending that perfect night out while vacationing. I have read many travel bloggers sharing their idea on spending a night in Puerto Vallarta, so here is my way of spending that perfect night out in this gorgeous city. Puerto Vallarta nightlife is somewhat like a box of an assortment cereal box and its best when you mix it all up.

My evening started with bit of shopping in the downtown. As you walk the cobbled streets of downtown exploring the market, you will get to see some of the beautiful Mexican art and craft to buy. There are many shops in that area giving you good deals on sarapes, pinatas and Huaraches and silver ornaments.

After some window shopping in the Mercado de Artesanías, I headed towards the best bar in the town, Bar Constantini. It is located inside the café des Artistes; the bar serves the best cocktails and martinis in the town with exclusive live Jazz and blues music. The bar has an amazing menu containing appetizers and desserts do die for, the opening hours make it the perfect for late night drinking. Along with great ambience it is the perfect place to meet locals and other visitors from different country.

After a quite drinking affair I went out to make my night wild partying, so after researching amongst locals and other tourist I found out that De Santos is the best place to party. This place draws urban and hip crowd and have the best DJ in the town churning out high voltage House and Techno music. That day I partied till 4 am and after that headed straight to my hotel for some good night sleep. This night turned out to be the best night so far in here as I made new friends in Puerto Vallarta.

This is my story of a fun night out in Puerto Vallarta; you may give it a shot. But this is best if you are here for just a day or a two. If you are here for a weeklong vacation, try something different every night. Do make sure that you book your Puerto Vallarta flights well in advance, if you want to save on your travel expenditure.

Pureto Vallarta Whale-Comes You

Puerto Vallarta Whale Watching
Pureto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s most vibrant and striking cities. The City offers almost everything a traveler can desire. From the vibrant nightlife to peaceful, calm beaches and from fine dining to exclusive shopping experience, the city has it all. If you are visiting Pureto Vallarta with your family, a blast is guaranteed. The city has abundance of family themed attractions and activities but when it comes to that ultimate experience, whale watching is unbeatable.

However someone who is looking for something different to do, then they have Whale Watching Tours for them. Watching the biggest mammal in its own habitat is an experience to live. As I remember when I saw the whale there with my family for the first time in real we were left completely spellbound.

Whale watching tours in Pureto Vallarta has become tremendously popular in past years and is now one of the most done activities here. It’s an ideal family day outing affair. Kids really love the tour and they get to learn new facts about whales. Humpback whales are viewed in this area for sure from November to March, as these marine mammoths migrate from different part of the world to this area. The tour of such an adventure can be easily arranged. Many local tour operators’ offers ocean centric 4 hours’ tour with their well qualified guides in their specially designed soft boats. When my family took the tour we were literally amazed and astonished by the many facts about whales told by our guide. Trust me when you see these gigantic mammals splashing a jet of water high in the air as well as when try to jump out of water is completely magical.

This magical experience comes with a price tag which is around $95 for adults, $82 for kids from 5 to 10 years. The tours generally depart early in the morning somewhere around 9:30 am. The tours offer their passengers the choice to snorkel and other water activities or else just sit in the boat to capture these beautiful animals in your lens. We clicked around 100 pictures and they all are my prized possessions.

October to March is the best time to go whale watching, plus flights to Pureto Vallarta tends to be bit cheaper during this time of the year.

My Ordeal for a Perfect Pizza

I am a man who lives to eat, since I was in Chicago one of the best cities in America my appetite drove me to hunt down the best places to have pizza in Chicago. Chicago is famous for its pizzas country wide. So I won’t be doing justice to myself, if I’ll miss the best pizza in Chicago. So my adventure to have the best pizza started by tasting the pizza at every pizzeria coming my way. After researching and tasting long array of pizzas I finally somehow discovered the best tasting pizza in the town.

This time around I wanted to chuck Domino’s and Pizza Hut’s and wanted to go more authentic. So I started my ordeal with Chicago famous Great Lake Pizza, The Great Lake Pizza is almost packed at any day of the week and the pizzeria has a long spree of loyal customer since its commencement. The Place is run by Nick Lessins and Lydia Esparza, a husband and wife duo originally from Detroit. On any weekday night Great Lake Pizza offers five different pizzas, from which 4 pizzas are pretty constant and they change with the freshest topping. However the 5th pizzas change on regular basis. When I was there they had avocado as the special one and trust me the creamy slice of the pizza took me to other dimensions. The best pizza anyone can have in the entire Chicago is in Great Lake. The average cost for 2 people dining is somewhere around $40.

So very next day also I got up with the notion of tasting the best creamy pizza in town. However I realized that my drive for food going to leave me broke by the end of the trip. So hoping I get a better Chicago flight deals next time so I can spend more on my vacation. I headed towards Piece, as I thought I will make my evening an entertaining one. The Piece is at 1927 W. North Ave, in Wicker Park. They have Events at almost every night from karaoke to live bands. However my motto was to taste the best they have. Trust me even they disappoint me with their hot, fresh, tender pizzas. Their pizza wasn’t as good as the Great Lake one but the live entertainment makes up for the taste. So howsoever going to Chicago should taste pizzas at Great Lake and Piece. There are dozens of places to have good pizzas in Chicago like Crust, Coalfire, Brut’s Place which worth a try.

Cancun’s Jungle Tour

Don’t go by the name, jungle tour is not even distantly related to terrestrial environment it’s all aquatic. Jungle Tour is one of the favorite outdoor activities to do by travelers these days. As before reaching Cancun, advised by most of the people whom I know is to get involved or do take a jungle tour.

In the jungle tour the touring companies gives you a high speed boat to drive with your partner. So what can be cooler than driving your boat through the lagoon passing mangrove to the open waters of Caribbean Sea? I would suggest going with boats called Lancha, as you and your partner will sit adjacent to each other. This excursion has become unbelievably famous amongst the tourist so make sure you book your tour 2 days in advance. For that matter of fact, since Cancun is one of the world’s best vacation destinations so everything from flight deals to Cancun to hotel booking should be done in advance to avoid any kind of hang up during your vacation.

The day of my tour I was instructed how to drive the boat before the tour. After the briefing I was in the boat hitting waves. All I can remember vividly was the breeze and water splashing on my face took me to some other dimensions of adrenaline rush. It’s a one completely different experience which you don’t get to do every other day. The feel of cruising over the water and bouncing over every wave is very elusive to explain you have to live it.

After high speed boat ride we also got the chance to snorkel because snorkeling equipments are part of the tour and were complimentary. Hence in short after taking one tour I enjoyed 2 best water activities, life can’t be better than this as I struggled really hard to get a Cheap Flights to Cancun. The whole trip generally last 2.30 hours the cost of the experience is also not that expensive i.e. $45 for adults and $27 for kids. Do check and confirm the rates at the time of booking as the rates do change according to seasons.
